Joseph Wesseh Tah III originates from the Bassa ethnic group in Liberia. He started singing and dancing in his Harbel Community where he was born and raised. At a tender age he began performing on shows and school programs. He began listening to songs from Chris Brown and Akon which made him grew more love for music. By the time he entered high school he already had basic understanding of music and eventually joined the group Dreams Come True (DCT) boys. He also played the keyboard and drum for his school chior.
J-Slught dropped his first single “Can’t Believe” featuring C.I.C in 2008, the song was produced by Jackie Russ at the time he was still in high school and with support from his team he dropped another single in the same year titled: “Wrong Decision” featuring some members of his team including Facarious, Kelly Ready, and Squeezy. That song was also produced by Jackie Russ. He left Dreams Come True (DCT) in 2014 after he completed High School and later joined Swag District in 2016 where he continued to prove his versatility as he was featured on Swag District’s Cypher. He later released two songs featuring top Liberian artistes including P.C.K, Nuchie Meek, A.Raw, and Afo4doe. In 2017 he was featured by top notch Liberian rapper Nuchie Meek on a song titled “Operate”, it was the song that brought him fame and enthusiasm for music. He did several hit songs before Later J-Slught career took a new trend when he got signed to BeeVonnee Records that afforded him the opportunity to produce with Benny Sound of Nigeria while working with some good local engineer Lucape and Smykid on his two well received hits, “Don’t Jerk” and “Sweet Love”.
