Morinna T Gbessagee is a beautiful young Liberian girl you would be proud of, especially if you’re a Liberian. Morinna has been able to transform her ordinary love for her favourite subject as a child, which is art, into a continous dream of being a stakeholder in the Liberian Fashion industry.
Colours and drawing really amazed her, so after high school young and determined Morinna had it in mind to go to a fashion school but being raced in an African home she couldn’t, and thats because it was looked at as being just a road side tailor.Hearing of Monrovia fashion week 2015, young Morinna decided to put her creativity into work, by putting her little ideas about fashion together to end up designing a dress for her cousin, who with that beautiful piece Morinna made won well dressed female Monrovia Fashion week 2015.
That inspired alot, and that made her believe she can do whatever she puts her mind to, only if she believes. As time went by after the Ebola she had to go to College, Because there was no opportunity to study Fashion, She had to do something else. Young Morinna, Left with no other option started schooling at the Stella Maris Polytechnic in Monrovia Liberia , Majoring in Accounting. With all the new developments, she had it somewhere in her heart that her dream of being an outstanding Liberian and international Fashion designer wont die. In 2016 she was called by the Monrovia fashion week to showcase at the show, which became a huge success with the help of her parents and family. Her active and recognised participation at the show really made her parents proud. “I prayed that the Lord speak to my father and help him understand fashion was my calling, it is a part of me”, in Miss Morinna words, her success at the show was not still enough to abort the old school mentality of fashion being a road side profession. As time went by she tried talking to her family also. With God answering her prayers she was able to convinced her father.
