The year 2018 ended on a high note swinging its momentum straight into 2019. Productions has increased in quantities as well as in qualities, bigger deals has been signed, labels are getting bigger and better, successful events/concerts has been hosted, great return of revenues, international collaborations. We have also seen some artists and some brands being left out of the goodies coming out of the industry. Too many things to talk about but let’s get to the listed 5 talking points!
(1) KOBAZZIE AND THE DAVIDO INFLUENCE
DAVIDO has already cemented his place as a living legend of African music. He’s internationally recognized, accepted and respected for his artistry. In fact DAVIDO‘s only competition on the continent is Star boy Wizkid, everything OBO touches turns to gold at the moments. KOBAZZIE has gotten himself an easy ride to fame and super-stardom after featuring OBO on the remix to his hit song “BOUNCE” if he can afford the complacency syndromes Liberian are noted for. We rise by lifting others OLAMIDE said, DAVIDO generosity has only continued to uplift himself to higher heights. KOBAZZIE is in the same spot Diamond Platinumz of Tanzania once were, DAVIDO gave him (Diamond) the necessary recognition when he featured In the remix of ” Number one”. Ever since then, Diamond has not looked back. KOBAZZIE should emulate that and create a spot for himself amongst the Continent’s finesse.
(2) JA REDO AND DA VERO ATTEMPTED THE WIZKID AND TIWA’s VIBE IN QUICK QUICK.
Okay they might have had other things in mind when recording the song and doing the video but you just can’t take away the fact that DA VERO and JA JA are trying to be the wizkid and TIWA of Liberia. JA redo is an exceptional artist any day, as usual he delivered on this mad tune but for DA VERO!!! She’s getting hoaskier by the day, she’s loosing her musical touch gradually, I mean it’s not she was great from the start or middle of it all, but we saw rooms for improvements. Instead of improving,Nreverse became the case. Quick Quick was another awful delivery, another weak lines. I think people’s attention will be drawn to quick quick for two reasons, sexy Love hot slap, and the kisses JA JA and Mamie pepper shared. Da VERO really needs some vocal lessons and coaching musically.
(3)BUCKY RAW FVCK YOU COVER WON THE RECOGNITION CONTEST.
Kizz Daniel has kept African artists busy for some time when he announced the #fvckyouchallenge the #fvckyouseason. Artists around the world has embraced the ideas behind it and dropped some sick videos. It’s been fun to watch so many FVCK you covers but in Liberia is it? as the adage goes “No joke in snake muff“. It’s dead serious in Liberia, artists are being laughed at for joining a movement they’re not getting recognition for, all of that has changed now that Kizz Daniel recognized Bucky’s effort officially. Congrats to Bucky Raww and Child Soldiers Entertainment
(4) SKYLETT WHITE,The Heavily Underrated Artist.
How an artist as good as SKYLETT struggling for relevance in a tiny industry is still baffling. I bet SKYLETT would’ve been on top of the food chain in a country like Ghana,Nigeria, South Africa,Kenya,Uganda and Tanzania. There’s no questioning SKYLETT’s abilities. She has dropped songs good enough to trend for months and year(s) but the industry of ours still turning blind eyes on her. You could sense the emotions and frustration in every lines she delivered in the LEA official cypher 2017. “Buffair ground hold it” is another record breaking hit that promoters, DJs did really hype up to its standard level. There’s so much injustice being done to SKYLETT’s career and it’s time we’d put stop to it. It’s a shame seeing SKYLETT as an underdog. I watched SKYLETT’s latest efforts “everything takes time’ and her FVCK YOU cover and I must confess, pound for pound, only few can withstand this bundle of talent.
(5) EVERGREEN DEE DWEH
A multiple award winning artist and producer, DEE DWEH has been around for years. Credited with producing biggest hits for artists like Ali, Shine P,T’Tricks,TOGAR Howard, Pitty D’best etc to dropping smash hits like “they can’t make it, Kebbeh, Wahway, Loverboy, Do me I do you among others, the name DEE DWEH is a household name in our industry even thou like many diaspora artists, He is not actually been receiving necessary accolades for his awesome jobs he does daily for the industry. DEE DWEH is a exemplary superstar, a father to a handsome baby-boy Divine and a beautiful wife Candice DWEH. It’s a blessing to have D12 in the industry.
Once again, Pay Attention to the Diaspora Entertainment Sector.
