Our MCM today is a brilliant and successful Liberian musician. Although there are many different artistes we could have used, but our MCM’s contribution to the music game is a par excellence. Well, Plus MCM is no one else but Daniel Tom George
Daniel Tom George, also known as DenG, is a Liberian Afropop artiste. DenG is a loyal soul of the kpelleh tribe who relocated and went to Ghana along with his family during the second civil war. While staying in Ghana, he attended the Achimota School. When everything became smooth in Liberia, he came down and started school at the United Methodist University by studying Business. DenG is one of the Liberian artistes who took their studies very serious. Even though they had music on their minds, they weren’t distracted by it. DenG’s focus was to be done with the school and then turn to what he really has passion for. That’s one of the reasons I have great respect for the Afropop artiste because he knows very well that you can not do the two(School and Music) at the same time, so he did it one at a time.
DenG started music at a very young age, he later joined his church choir to improve his game. Coming into the game, the artiste started as a RnB artiste, but Liberians never had interest in that and none couldn’t vibe to his songs. As time went by, his versatility enabled him to switch to what Liberians love to hear. However, he was kind of confused in what genre to focus on till he got featured by Queen V on her 2013 hit single “Jue you bad”. After the song became a hit, DenG was now convinced that he will be better if being an Afropop star. Since the release of “Jue You Bad”, the name Deng became very relevant in our music industry. He became a very shinning star. Other top artistes at that time started focusing more on our MCM as they were eager to feature him.
Furthermore, DenG’s music career has become so successful to the extent that he has literally achieved all of his goals set up and now focusing on another one. Since his appearance in our music industry, he has always been dropping hit songs back to back. Since 2013, not a year went the Afropop star has disappointed us. The artist has surprised us habitually untill we don’t see his surprise as surprise anymore. DenG has given Liberia a lot and continues to do. Musically, the Afropop star is a god. He has become so terrific in making Liberia being recognized musically. DenG modified his style of singing and I think that created the distinction between him and many others. The artiste’s tone is kind of soft and enjoyable, he knows exactly how to place his vocal on any beat. Our MCM is not just an Afropop or RnB singer, he is also a rapper that spit real hardcore bars on the mic.
In addition, since DenG became a prominent character, let’s take a look at some of his contributions, achievements and associates. After DenG was featured on Queen V’s 2013 hit single tagged “Jue You Bad”, the Afropop star has successfully been dropping hit songs and it includes “They vex” which was Liberian Entertainment Awards song of the year in 2015, “Kemah” which got him nominated as best new artiste for the African Entertainment Awards in 2015, “Put Foot” this song played in every part of Liberia, “Janjay” featuring Sarkodie, “Make Dem Talk” featuring Kcee, and many other dope songs that Liberians still love.
Hard work pays. For his tireless efforts, he became the first Liberian artiste that was nominated for Listener’s Choice at the 2016 MTV Africa Music Awards(MAMA). The Afropop star also became the first Liberian artiste to perform at the One Africa Music Fest. And he was opportuned to share the stage with top African musicians like Wizkid, Flavour N’abania, Tekno, Sarkodie, Cassper Nyovest and Diamond Platnumz and many others. Of all the award nominations the artiste has gotten, he won majority of them. Wow, that’s awesome!
Finally, DenG is someone who works secretly and lets his music speak for him. We know the artiste is working quietly and preparing to set the country ablaze again anytime soon.
Keep making us proud, DenG!
